TAMPA - A fundraiser to help the families of three police officers killed in the line of duty is underway at a popular Tampa restaurant.
From now until 2 a.m. Friday, proceeds made at the Village Inn at 215 North Dale Mabry Highway will go to the Curtis, Kocab, and Roberts families.
Besides money from your meal, you can also stop into the restaurant to drop off a check.
Exactly one year ago, Corporal Mike Roberts was murdered. Roberts was investigating a suspect in north Tampa when the man shot him. A short time later, officers arrested Humberto Delgado Jr. He's charged with first-degree murder.
On June 29 of this year, officers Dave Curtis and Jeff Kocab were shot during a traffic stop near I-4. The gunman fled. Four days later, Donte Morris turned himself in to police. He's charged with murdering officers Kocab and Curtis.
